KAHLLA is the solo project of singer, songwriter and producer Freya Volk. Born in Amsterdam and raised somewhere in the nomansland of South West Germany, she decided to leave behind her rural hometown at the age of 18. Now based in London, KAHLLA merges her classical upbringing with dreamy soundscapes and tinges of R’n’B to create intimate and vulnerable pop songs - brought to the listener like a picture straight from her photo book.
Having already received support for her promo single “Come With Me” under her previous alias “Katharsis", from Amazing Radio, BBC introducing and various blogs, earning her comparisons to contemporaries Meadowlark and The Japanese House, KAHLLA is now releasing her official debut EP. The “Come With Me” EP will feature the original single as well as two genre-defying remixes from Brighton’s electro newcomer Missiles Over Moscow and mysterious North London duo mudman.
This release marks an exciting new chapter for KAHLLA as she gears up to release new material this year that will place her amongst the wave of new female artists who, in an age of superficiality, aren’t afraid to explore the darker corners of the mind and do so on their own terms.
